The Literacy Council served over 1,500 adults and children of Burke County through literacy programs during our 2019-2020 program year. The Literacy Council also provided over 5,000 new books to families in Burke County during the past year. Our mission is to teach adults and their families to read and/or improve their literacy skills and to instill in all those served a commitment to life-long learning. There are numerous ways to donate to Burke Literacy Council's mission. 

Give your time

  • Become a board member

  • Serve on a fundraising committee

  • Tutor one to one

  • Teach a class

  • Assist in an early childhood classroom

  • Share a skill or resource with students

  • Collect gently used children's books

  • Volunteer as an interpreter

  • Help with community events 
     

Financial support

The Literacy Council is a non-profit organization and operates on grant funding and private donations. If you would like to make a monetary contribution to support literacy in Burke County,  checks   can be mailed to  Burke Literacy Council at the address below.
