Volunteer Opportunities

Make a difference in Burke County by sharing your time, talents, and passion for literacy. Volunteers are an important part of our mission to empower adults, strengthen families, and build a stronger community.
Ways to Get Involved
01
Support Community Events
Assist with outreach events, literacy celebrations, and community activities.
03
Help with Fundraisers
Support special events and fundraising efforts that make our programs possible, including two of our biggest annual events: GoGo’s Cinnamon Buns for Literacy held each April, and Soup for a Cause held each November.
05
Collect Gently used Books
Organize or contribute book drives to help place books into the hands of local families.
07
Engage with Our Social Media
Spread the word, share our mission, and help us connect with the community online.
02
Serve as a Board Member
Help guide our mission, provide leadership, and support the future of Burke Literacy Council.
04
Volunteer to Translate or Interpret
Use your language skills to help us better serve multilingual families and learners.

Support Our Laundromat Literacy Program
Help care for our Little Library corners located at Hannah’s Wash, Dry & Fold in Morganton and Valdese. Volunteers can check book supplies, keep shelves organized, and help maintain a clean and welcoming reading space for families.
